The 2022 edition of the Systems Engineering Southern European Tour was a great success with over 170 people attending the various events. The undisputed highlight (at least for us) was of course the joint live conference day with the Italian chapter in beatiful Borgomanero near the stunning Lago d'Orta. The SSSE representatives combined the event with a fun road-trip in our camper van:

We started with a social event for the chapters, speakers, and sponsors to meet. We selected Borgomanero's answer to Napoli's "da Michele", the - for us Swiss - aptly named "Benvenuto al Sud", who serve a real pizza (though some of us chose to ignore that and go for the novelty ones - ignorami!):

On the day, we enjoyed the world-famous Italian cataering, with tasters from all region of bella Italia:

And of course our brilliant presentations introduced by Marco Di Maio's take on Climate change:
- "Sustaining Sustainable Systems" by Marco Chicherio of Swystems.
- "Why the Sustainability Challenge needs Systems Engineering and the Virtual Twin" by Martin Neff of 3DS.
- "Carbon free in 2030 - A dream or an SE Vision?" by Thomas Mächler of Helbling PLM Solutions.
This last contribution - a workshop - actually became a bit of the challenge tech-wise, as we wanted to include the virtual audience in it:

Our make-shift facillitation had to be set up on stage, but it was a very encouraging experience that yielded a lot of good discussions, insights, and a great idea for a contribution for this year's Swissed!
Thanks to everyone who helped making this trip and indeed the event possible and hope to see you all there next year!
